Frequently asked questions
Does it renew automatically?+
No. Every plan is a single charge with no subscription and no auto-renewal. Nothing bills you again unless you choose to buy another plan.
How long do I have access?+
It depends on the plan. The Single Exam Plan gives you 90 days from purchase, the All Amateur Licenses Plan gives you 12 months, and commercial plans give you 6 months. The length is shown on each plan before you buy.
What is the difference between the plans?+
A plan covers the exams needed for a license. The Single Exam Plan ($29) covers one amateur license: Technician, General, or Amateur Extra. The All Amateur Licenses Plan ($59) covers all three. Commercial plans are named for the license you want: GROL Plan ($45), GROL + Radar Endorsement Plan ($59), GMDSS Operator Plan ($45), GMDSS Maintainer Plan ($69), or the All Commercial Licenses Plan ($79) with every commercial license.
Can I upgrade later?+
Yes. If you bought a Single Exam Plan and later buy the All Amateur Licenses Plan, or you bought a commercial license plan and later buy a larger commercial plan, you pay only the difference.
What do I get for free?+
Every exam is open to explore. Free covers the first 4 topics of each exam, with a lesson and a practice run for each, plus explanations and an overall readiness score. Paid plans open every topic and add the full IQ Readiness breakdown, weak-spot ordering, Quick Quiz, hints, bookmarks, read aloud, the exam simulator, and the diagnostic report.
What is the IQ Readiness Score?+
It is a weighted 0 to 100 score built from your own practice answers: 60% answer accuracy and 40% coverage of the question pool. It is a study guide, not a prediction, and it does not guarantee a result on test day.
Do I still pay the FCC application and exam fees?+
Yes, exam fees are separate. For amateur exams the FCC application fee is $35, plus a VEC session fee that varies by team and is sometimes $0. For commercial exams, COLEM fees vary by provider and FCC filing fees depend on the license. Check the FCC pages linked above the FAQ for current amounts.
Where do the question pools come from?+
Questions come verbatim from the official NCVEC question pools (amateur exams) and the FCC and COLEM pools (commercial elements). Errata are tracked and applied to the bank.
Can I get a refund?+
Yes. Every plan has a 48-hour money-back guarantee from the time of purchase, whatever its access window. If Airwaves IQ is not the right fit, contact us within 48 hours for a full refund.
