Who it is for
Anyone preparing for an FCC written exam:
- Ham radio operators. Technician for your first license, General for worldwide HF voice and digital, and Amateur Extra for every amateur frequency.
- Commercial radio technicians and avionics engineers. The General Radiotelephone Operator License (GROL) and the Ship Radar Endorsement.
- Maritime radio operators and officers. The Marine Radio Operator Permit, GMDSS Radio Operator, Restricted GMDSS and GMDSS Radio Maintainer.
How you study
- Study by topic. Every exam is split into its official syllabus topics, so you can drill the areas you find hardest.
- See the answer and the reason. Each question shows the right answer, a plain-English explanation, and why the other choices are wrong.
- Practice the way the test works. The timed simulator builds each sitting like the real one: one random question from every question group, in syllabus order.
- Know when you are ready. Your readiness score combines coverage, accuracy, speed and how you do on timed tests.
Where the questions come from
- Official pools, word for word. Question text, choices and answer keys are stored exactly as the NCVEC and FCC publish them.
- Every answer traced to a rule. Explanations point to the FCC rule in Title 47 of the Code of Federal Regulations, or show the working for math questions.
- Math checked by code. Calculation answers are verified by running the numbers, not by eye.
- Official schematics. All 43 circuit and block diagrams used by the exams appear with the questions that need them, with zoom and rotate.
What Airwaves IQ is not
- Not affiliated with or endorsed by the FCC or the NCVEC.
- Not an exam provider. Official exams are given by volunteer examiner teams and commercial examination managers.
- Not a license. Exam and filing fees are separate and set by those organizations.
